I've written a fair amount on the blog about research into elite control of HIV infection. PBS Newshour has posted a short video featuring a participant in these studies, Bob Hoff. In addition to highlighting the dedication of many individuals to contributing to science, the interview offers a grim reminder of the toll HIV infection has taken on an entire generation of gay men. The PBS website also includes a longer article about elite controllers as part of a series on Peru. The first commenter on the piece, Loreen Willenberg, has established the Zephyr Foundation as a resource for the controller community and, like Bob Hoff, Loreen is also altruistically contributing samples to many research projects including the International HIV Controllers Study.

Hi (Richard?) ~
Thank you for your 'blurb' on the Zephyr Foundation and my contributions of samples to the many HIV Controller/LTNP studies here in the U.S. The support of colleagues from the advocacy field is something I appreciate very much.
Have the best day,
Loreen

Will this piece be broadcasted or only on the PBS website?
Thank you Elite Controllers for all that you're contributing to this new generation of science!
Blessings,
Sonja Ortman

Hi Loreen, it is indeed me, I should probably make it clearer who the author of the blog is! I'm very happy to contribute a little to the promotion of this research and the people who make it possible, and it's great to see PBS covering it.
Sonja, I think the segment was broadcast on the PBS Newshour on April 1. They also did a video segment on elite controllers in Peru, it can be watched and downloaded online:

Best wishes,
